what's new Sunday?

Hi Margo and everyone: We're all safe up here in the Grand Rapids area ... just very wet. I was on the phone with Carla last night during parts of the big thunderstorms ... very dramatic lightning and big claps of thunder and pouring down rain ... when of all a sudden the cable went out. Ya know, I just paid my bill, and this is my only entertainment ... grrrrr! So after I said goodbye to Carla, I put in the "John Adams" video my brother recorded for me and watched part 5 of the series, then went to bed, read for a while until my eyelids started to droop. It was still storming as I drifted off.  Of course, it was bright sunshine early in the morning so I couldn't sleep late. It clouded up as the day went on and we got another system of storms ... but I move ahead of my story. When i got up, I checked the TVs and still no cable. So I called Comcast to report the outage. The customer service rep said she had no report of a system outage, so she tried sending a signal to my TV; didn't work; so then she had to schedule a technician visit. Well, she said, it's very busy this week ... first opening was Wednesday. That really ticked me off ... don't you think that means there's an outage, I said. Anyway, I was angry being without cable on the weekends, when I have no money to go anywhere, so I threw away my Weigh****chers dessert dish with my spoon, then realized I threw away my spoon, went fishing in the garbage for the spoon and cut my hand. It was bleeding everywhere ... that'll teach me to lose my temper! Still didn't find my spoon in the trash and gave up on that pursuit. Anyway, sometime after 11 a.m., I looked at the cable box and noticed the time was now right, so I turned on the TV and sure enough, the cable was back on. Called Comcast to cancel my service call and then they were saying the area had an outage. Well, duh! I knew that last night! I swear these people are stupid. I've been reveling in the White Sox' play recently ... they've been hitting the tar out of the ball. The past three days, they've scored 10 or more runs ... they haven't that all year. Hope it continues. They've now won six in a row. Fun to watch.  Well, I guess I should get to cleaning litter boxes. It's one of those chores I set for myself over the weekend. I dumped one out yesterday and plan to do one more today, maybe two. Got laundry and dishes done too, so it hasn't been entirely lazy. By the way, I had the salsa  chicken and it was good, but I'd skip the taco seasoning and just make it with the salsa ... I think the taco seasoning makes it too salty.

Well, not much choice ... could change to AT&T 's new service, but don't want to do that until after the baseball season since I've already paid for the baseball package.

Glad your okay, Eileen.....been wondering about you with all the storms up your way. We got a dozie about 4 p.m.
Lots of wind and rain...the graduation over at the H.S. just got out in the nick of time.....(it was outside!).

Re the salsa chicken - you can use lower sodium taco seasoning....I found it at Wal Mart, but not in the Mexican section, it was with all the other types of gravy mixes, etc.
I liked the salsa chicken but it made so much, I was glad when I finally got it all eaten, in fact I threw a little of it down the garbage disposal! If you don't want to use taco seasoning, you could add some cumin and red pepper flakes (about 1/4 tsp.) or chili powder.

I used the lower sodium taco seasoning, plus I only used half a package ... it was in the Mexican section in Meijer. I only used four chicken thighs ... so I had it for three days so far and then froze the last one. Yes, I think if I make it again I'd do my own seasoning mix so it wasn't so salty. But it was good ... even Diva liked it ... maybe she's got a little Mexican in her.

Computers drive me NUTZY.  After years of trying I finally did 'just okay' on the old one. Alas, it was worn out and constantly causing grief. Tom got me a new one today. He says I should be happy ... HELL NO, I had the beginnings of a panic attack trying to figure this thing out. My SMILEYS don't work, the keyboard is too touchy, the screen is too big, and I am frustrated. Ungratefull wench to say the least. Change is so difficult.  Annette

Annette, I know how you feel. Mine won't do smileys either , just the few basics on the OFF editor thingy but not the cool ones like everyone else has. Cheryl
